Wrist Pain

Below you’ll find a list of common causes, symptoms and suggestions for those suffering from pain in wrist.

Tendonitis – Tendonitis of the wrist occurs when the tendons within the wrist become inflamed mainly due to overuse. Wrist tendonitis is characterized by pain in the wrist that may be accompanied by swelling. Tendonitis usually does not require surgery, however if rest and ant-inflammatory drugs  do not produce results you might consult your doctor for a professional diagnosis.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the result of damage to nerves found in the wrist. The Median Nerve of the wrist is pinched thus limiting the nerve messaging between the fingers and the brain.  Carpal Tunnel is usually characterized by numbness of the fingers (often when waking up), tingling in the fingers, and pain in the hand or wrist. Carpal Tunnel is often associated with diabetes, arthritis, pregnancy and hypothyroidism. It is also believed to be the result of excessive computer keyboard use and poor typing posture. Hand wrist pain relief from carpal tunnel may come from wearing a wrist brace, changing typing posture, rest, or anti-inflammatory medication.

Wrist Sprain - A sprained wrist is suffered when the ligaments surrounding the wrist joint become damaged and stretched beyond normal  capacity due to a jamming, rolling or other injuries. The injury is usually related to an accident or fall. If you suffer an accident and have pain in your wrist that is limiting the mobility of your hand, and has become bruised and discolored, it’s almost certain that you’ve suffered a sprained wrist. The most common treatments for a sprained wrist are rest, ice, compression (tightly wrapped bandages) and elevation. Please visit WebMD here for more information on wrist sprains.

Wrist Arthritis – There are three major types of wrist arthritis that cause wrist pain while trying to perform everyday tasks. Post Traumatic Arthritis is the result of direct injury to the wrist, Wrist Instability is the result of abnormal carpal bone / cartilage movement, and Rheumatoid Arthritis is a system wide problem in which the body attacks its own cartilage resulting in severe inflammation of the joints. Although lifestyle changes can provide natural arthritis pain relief for certain degrees of arthritis, It may be tough to distinguish between the three on your own; it is therefore recommended you see a doctor for professional diagnosis.

Our Customers Say ...

"I know Ive found a new key to my post-ride recovery. After each ride, I take a recovery drink with me into the shower, clean off and then put the ice wraps on while I cook and eat."-- Phil Gaimon, 24, rides for Kenda Pro Cycling
